How important is the Moon's cycles to our lives?
As the moon makes her cycle in approximately twenty-nine days from the wax (increase) to the wane
(decrease). The moon is broken up into quarters or phases. Experience has shown that anything started when
the Moon is weak by sign and aspect is unlikely to be prosperous. The moon's strength is assessed by its
energy in other signs. As in Cancer, the sign it rules and where it enjoys its purest form of _expression. The
moon is said to be the strongest because of Cancer's symbolism trait of mothering, nurturing, feeling and
intuiting. On the other hand when it is in Capricorn its weakest time, because the qualities of goal setting,
detachment and achieving which are not the aspects of the moons mode of _expression. The moon is
considered weak when it is in the void-of-course which are near the end of a sign and not aspecting other
planets. When activities begin during a void-of-course Moon often have a different ending than what was
expected.
The first twelve hours after the exact moment of the New Moon are considered unfavorable for many things.
The next seventy-two hours (until the time of the first qtr) are considered favorable. The twelve hours
beginning with the exact time of the first qtr are unfortunate. As this pattern continues through out the cycle
of the moon.
The first qtr begins at the New Moon when the Sun and the Moon are conjoined; are at the same degree of
the zodiac sign. The new moon time is for new beginnings that are for growth and drawing things to you. During
this time the lunar and solar forces are at work together pulling things in the same direction. The end of this
phase is the best time to finalizing plans.
The second qtr begins when the Sun and the Moon are ninety degrees apart; about seven days into the cycle
and it ends with the Full Moon. This qtr moon rises about noontime and sets near midnight. This time period
represents growth, development and the _expression of things that already exit. If your plans are taking shape,
concentrate on completing or adding to projects at this time. It should be noted that every thing has its own
timetable. Events occurring now may be the result of something initiated in different cycle, year or season of
your life.
The third qtr begins at the Full moon (fourteen days into the cycle) when the Sun and the Moon are
opposite, which allows the Sun's light to shine on the Moon. Early in this stage of this qtr, the Moon can be
seen rising in the east at sunset and then rising a little later each evening. This Moon is for illumination,
completion, unrest and using what we worked for to create. Towards the end of this qtr is time of maturity,
fruition and fulfillment.
The Fourth Qtr begins about twenty-one days of the cycle when the Sun and the Moon are in square
aspect. The waning Moon rises at midnight and can be seen in the east during the last half of the night and
reaching overhead at the time of Sun rise. This is the time of disintegration, drawing back for reorganization,
reflecting on the past and ridding yourself of what has become unnecessary in order to make room for what is
new to come in.
Now to make things tricky or time to get out the astrology chart for each day. When there is a trine or sextile,
sometimes a conjunction is considered favorable aspects. When it is between the Sun and Moon it is an
excellent foundation for success. Whether or not a conjunction is considered favorable depends upon the
planet the Moon is making a conjunction to. If it joining the Sun, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter or even Saturn the
aspect is favorable. If the Moon joins Pluto or Mars, however, that would not be considered favorable. It is
important to avoid times when the Moon makes an aspect to or is conjoining any retrograde planet, unless of
course you want to start and end in a failure.
